What age group is Mr Merlin & Okey Dokey the Dragon’s show suitable for?
I am able to perform and adapt my show to almost all ages. As I perform regularly at pre-schools and nurseries, I can do shows for 3-year-old children upwards. Despite this, some may think that my show is suitable just for younger children, but I can happily entertain older children and often perform shows for 10-year-olds. Of course, I change how I do it, but they will still have fun. I even have shows available for teens and adults! The Merlin’s Magic School is designed for children aged 8 and over, but for groups and organisations, like Scouting and schools, as young as 5 is acceptable if there are adult helpers able to aid those children who need a bit of help.
Do you entertain both children and adults?
I always play to the audience I have in front of me. Like a good Disney/Pixar movie or a traditional pantomime, the focus of the entertainment is the children, but there is plenty for the grown-ups to enjoy too. I have a rule that the humour for the adults are just ‘asides’ and there is never a time when I’m having fun with the adults where the children are disinterested. I entertain at a lot of family parties, company events, holiday parks and more where the audience is of mixed ages, and I endeavour to entertain all. How long does the show last?
Nearly all of the packages I offer last one hour. That includes either a 45-minute show and a few games, or a full 1-hourshow (depending on children’s age and requirements). In the majority of options, the show is typically 45 minutes in length. However, often in carnivals and public events, typically, I would perform multiple 30-minute shows. Should you have specific needs, e.g. a 20-minute show? A 55 minute one? 37.5 minutes–then yes, I can work around what you require.
